Veneered wooden box

  • Daniel Easton
Before starting at univeristy, I worked with my dad to design and make a box. It was tough work but an overall fun project to do. Looking back at it now it's easy to spot the many imperfections - but the journey from start to finish was really enjoyable. The photos are lacking in quality- but unfortunatel they're the only ones I have!
The pattern was painstakingly cut by hand from birds-eye maple, cherry, pear and maple. What really made it was adding in the ebony stringing. The interior was veneered with sapele, with inserts around the edge for the lid to sit firmly on the top.
