This new economy meal service focuses on improving passenger experience whilst also generating efficiencies for the airline. The tray is a third smaller than the previous design, reducing cost that enabled further investment in the meal service, including the design of new cutlery and crockery.
The new design resulted in a 9% increase in passenger’s ‘excellent’ ratings. It also yielded a weight saving of 129kg per aircraft, saving fuel and making it 45% more greenhouse gas efficient than the meal it replaced.
