VISION ART FAIR
The first women only art fair launches in London March 2020
Vision Art Fair is the first UK art fair dedicated to promoting women artists and their work.
Research (Freelands Foundation 2019) shows that despite graduating from creative programmes in larger numbers than male artists, female artists are under-represented by galleries, offered fewer solo shows and have less opportunities to exhibit their work than their male counterparts.
Vision Art Fair builds on a number of initiatives rolled out over the last few years (Max Mara Art Prize for Women, Tate's rehang in the Natalie Bell building to accommodate a 50% gender balance, Richard Saltoun Gallery's 100% Women initiative showing only women artists) to create a platform for women artists to exhibit and sell their work, while contributing to the conversation around equality.
WHEN
The first edition will take place at the Boiler House, Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, Spitalfields, London, 13-15 March 2020. Showcasing 50 artists, a programme of events will take place during the Fair to encourage debate around women’s art, the pursuit for equal pay, recognition, representation, women in the creative industries and art for all. Further details will be released on visionartfair.com
Applications are currently open and are invited from female and female-identifying artists. Applications are welcome from either solo artists or groups with curated presentations. Shared booths are allowed and galleries who wish to showcase female artists are welcome.
