VISUAL (Logo design 2015)

  • Clare Lynch

The original logo for this gallery / theatre space employed a silhouette of its impressive building as its key identifier. The re-designed logo sought to retain a sense of the building but in a purely typographical manner.

The many frosted panes of glass that form the walls of the centre result in a constant changing of light throughout the day and across the seasons — just as the activities that take place in the building also vary over time. By fluctuating the weights of a contemporary grotesk, a suite of subtly shifting master marks was created — reflecting the concept in a simple typographic solution.
