Viver entre as fronteiras da diferença / Living between borders of dissimilarity

  • Catarina Almeida

First of two narratives published in Portuguese language about childhood autism. I spoke with phycologists but mainly parents of little kids that were diagnosed with different levels of autism. Be autist within the Chinese community means that sometimes the parents - and the kids - are put aside because the people around them look as if the fault is the lack of education at home. Fortunately, nowadays, the perception is changing and even the government is helping a lot giving assistance and special education these kids need but there is a lot to do.
