This project delves into the exploration of the absence of female identity, inspired by my early efforts to understand my own identity. Growing up, I felt a strong need to assert my control over my identity, constantly personalizing objects and people to establish my own sense of territory. Set against the backdrop of Chinese family and clan worship, the project uses a surreal yet realistic representation by constructing two female figures: one as a worshipper of figurative emotions and the other symbolizing female ancestors or goddesses—figures largely absent in Chinese clan traditions. Although it begins with the theme of Chinese clans, the project extends its focus to the global issue of the absence of female identity. By highlighting the absence of these female figures, the project serves as a microcosm that reflects the broader, global gaps in female identity. It presents a fresh perspective on the issue of women's erasure in family and historical contexts, aiming to rewrite and reclaim women's names and identities in both familial and historical narratives.
