My short "Wake up Ophelia!", which was on display in Tate Modern London between the 7th and the 20th of August 2024, consists of digitally painted drawings inspired by Millais’s Ophelia painting, and by Elizabeth Siddal, the forgotten woman artist who posed for it in a freezing Victorian bathtub. Both the titular character and Elizabeth were faced with societal barriers and mental health problems impeding their aspirations. My images (which borrow from Pop Art like Liechtenstein and Japanese Anime) tell a more hopeful story where the heroine ‘wakes up’ in our time to freely pursue her art career. However, it’s a message for everyone struggling, that it’s never too late to start anew. #ExhibitingArtist #ArtLife #ElizabethSiddal #Millais #ShakespeareOphelia #ArtLife #DigitalPainting #WomanArtist #FightingDepression #SelfExpression #FreedomToChange #itsNeverToLate #PaintAnewPicture #TateGalleries #WakeUpOphelia #PopArt #LichtensteinInspired #AnimeInspired #TateModern #tatebritain © Sara Teramo July 2024 More on this video and the exhibition at Tate Modern https://www.conceptsara.com/tate My Art and Design Website https://www.conceptsara.com/ Professional Contact LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/sarateramo/
