Margaret Island has a rich history dating back a millennium including Tatars, Medieval monasteries, kings' residencies and poets. This beautiful park that sits right at the heart of the city, got its name from Princess Margaret of Hungary, who was sent to be a nun as a child and spent most of her short life on the island in a monastery. Today this urban parkland offers many activities for all ages including a mini zoo, baths, Medieval ruins and churches, a fountain that 'plays' its water to music every hour and an impressive and decorative water tower.
