Wanda

Wanda is a GPS enabled app for outdoor sports & activities which allows the user to map their hikes, rides, runs and even water sport sessions, monitoring their heart rate, steps, altitude and distance. But more importantly it allows you to set custom routes and record old ones. But this isn’t the main feature of Wanda. Wanda allows you to locate campsites, hiking and MTB trails, cafes, toilet and water facilities and other key points of interest.
Possibly the most helpful feature of Wanda is the HikeMap, which shows details of your trail and includes a breakdown of climbs, terrain, hazards and points of interest. For this brief I drew upon my own experience of outdoor activities and hikes. For the logo design I drew off of the most important elements of the app, being the map folded to resemble the letter W, the Location pin representing a destination and within that a hiker or runner celebrating the elation of reaching said destination. I wanted the colour and rendering to be bold and sleek to fit in with the current fitness and activity app market, capable of standing out among FitBit, Garmin, Nike+ and Strava. The menu layouts and promotional material was designed to include photography to inspire Wanderlust and give people the craving for the great outdoors.
