Watford FC Badge Design

This project was driven by a brief set by Watford FC th I wanted to reflect the club’s history, in particular the “the nine chapters from the formative years through to the present”. Including a reference the clubs nickname as well within the badge, I have used the 9 hoops on the badge as a great way to symbolize this evolution. It was important to keep Watford’s distinctive badge shape also, so I played on the subconscious of it resembling the abdomen of a hornet, to keep it away from it being just a character. From a fans perspective, giving the impression of the hornet protecting the “Watford F.C.” with the overlap of the hornet head offers a sense of pride and ownership of the name, and the Hornet’s head itself can be used individually so that “those that know, know”!
