I started @WeAreWomenClub during my masters. This is a social media based project with the aim of building a positive and inclusive community that celebrates women as individuals and challenges and changes society's idea of what a woman should be. The 'This Is What A Woman Looks Like' campaign involved a mirror that was designed to encourage people to take selfies and spread the message of the campaign across social media. Due to Covid, the actual event couldn't take place so I had to digitally mock up the mirror but I decided to adapt to the sudden change in circumstances and instead made an Instagram filter similar to the physical mirror that I originally had designed. The campaign was still able to go ahead and be active. A plus side to this change was that it was accessible from anywhere in the world and by anyone. The filter has over 600+ impressions and been viewed in multiple countries including the UK, Czech Republic, Russia, United Arab Emirates, and Malaysia. To go alongside the campaign, I also curated and designed an inclusive feminist zine that included pieces written by other women about their personal experiences. www.byellesse.com/we-are-women-club
