"We Bought a Zoo"

This collection was inspired by the film ‘We Bought a Zoo’, observing the animals and their environments through research trips, focusing not only their enclosures but also their natural habitat with tropical foliage. She was inspired by the details and organic shapes within the animal print and tropical leaves but contrasted this with the structured geometric shapes from their enclosures, exaggerating and abstracting these shapes whilst exploring new techniques to manipulate fabric. Using a range of techniques including manipulation laser cutting and etching and CAD embroidery, having contrasting materials throughout her collection, shiny vs matte and soft vs tough all linking back to the animals and their zoo habitats. She has created a range of manipulated samples for a high-end womenswear, Autumn/Winter collection.
