Web content for the School for Social Entrepreneurs

  • Lee Mannion

The School for Social Entrepreneurs got in touch to ask if I could write five 1,000 word 'how to' articles for people who were setting up social enterprises - businesses with a mission to benefit society or the environment. They covered the following themes: how to launch your startup, how to find money for it, how to develop a brand, how to do the accounts and how to find a mentor. Links to all of them are below. I've been writing about social enterprises as a journalist for the last four years and have spoken to many social entrepreneurs during that time, so knew what their challenges were and what kind of information they were likely to need. The project had a clear and comprehensive brief that described the tone of voice they were after, the kind of structure they wanted the articles to take and even profiles of the kind of reader they had in mind. Great project to get - it's always really gratifying producing work that has a real purpose and is hopefully really useful to people trying to make the world a better place.
