Wessex scene: The parting of the sea

My illustration for an article in the University of Southampton’s by Léa Soler depicts a fish caught in a hook. The article itself deals with the topical debate around over-fishing and environmental protection, however, I focused more on the title ’the parting of the sea’ in terms of my illustrations composition. The waves, visually similar to Japanese woodcuts, appear to ’part’ leaving the fish exposed and on display.
