Wilkinson Sword Product Photography

Commissioned Projects. When a member of the brand team for Wilkinson Sword reached out to me over Instagram to commission our first product photography project together, I initially dismissed it as spam. I was new to freelancing, I had zero marketing efforts on the go, and overall I would not have considered myself to be a safe bet for any client at that stage in my journey. Certainly not a well-established brand people have actually heard of. It was an amazing opportunity to work with a huge brand I’ve known and used for years, and still I credit this leap of faith from the brand for aiding my early success in this field. That, and my lack of a social life outside of work at the time. The briefs I received from Wilkinson Sword tasked me with creating social/ecommerce content with more appeal than their current assets. We’re talking continuity assets with versatile usage, in distinctive set styles per shoot to create cohesive ranges of product photography across multiple launches. Great projects aren’t produced entirely from my own hard work; on this project I benefited greatly from stellar communication with my client contact, who, possessing a creative background herself, provided a perfect balance of direction and creative freedom.
