Winner of National Black History Wales Youth Visual Arts Award

  • Taiye Omokore

I am truly grateful and humbled to be awarded the National Black History Wales Youth Visual Arts honor. This recognition holds deep meaning, not just for me, but for all who believe in the impact of images to narrate stories, spark change, and honor the diversity of our shared heritage. Even though I’ve only been in Wales for a little over a year, it already feels like my second home. I also want to use this moment to convey to everyone that you can accomplish anything with dedication, consistency, and hard work. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the event organizers Race Council Cymru and sponsor Elysian Gallery Swansea for giving us a platform to present our narratives. I’m also thankful to God Almighty, fellow nominees, and, of course, my family for their unwavering support and encouragement. Together, let’s promise to protect and celebrate our cultural legacy, not just today, but every day. Let’s continue to use our creative power to light the way forward and inspire future generations.
