Wojtek spod Monte Cassino

  • Urszula Dubiniec
a book for children from 7 to 11 years old

The book presents the story of a brown bear found in Iran and adopted by Polish soldiers in 1942. Wojtek (the bear) became a mascot of the army. He was travelling with the army through the Middle East by Italy to Scotland. After the War he was given to Edinburgh Zoo, where he died.

The project is a result of the cooperation with Jan Bajtlik, the author of the illustrations. We worked together on the general concept of the book and the typography. We aimed at finding the way to present the historical facts in friendly and approachable way.
