World biggest matrimonial site

This is not a place for casual sex or short term relationship – just true, ever-lasting love 3 x 60’ Imagine a dating site that’s led to four million marriages – that’s one hell of a successful business. It’s called Shaadi.com and it’s India’s biggest ‘arrange-your-own marriage’ website. Launched 20 years ago, the site controls almost half of the multi-billion dollar Indian match-making business with increasing numbers of young British Indians using it too. And they don’t come to date, they come to find a potential life partner. This access-driven documentary series follows carefully-cast marriage hopefuls in both Britain and India using its services. What unites these wide-eyed innocent couples is that they’re looking to meet a partner of Indian heritage using the same filters that their parents would apply. But once education, profession, religion and caste throw up a potential match, is there any Bollywood-style magic? Each episode follows a range of characters in both Britain and India on their journey to find a husband or wife. Even if they are successful, they must ultimately persuade their parents to give the proposed marriage their blessing. As well as following this jeopardous route to love, the series takes us into the nuts and bolts of the business. It’s not as easy as it sounds. There’s lots of sleazy predators out there and the company has to keep a watchful eye on its users and bar those whose intentions are less than honourable. At the same time, they’re trying to expand the business into new markets. Sugar Films has access to the management and marketing team in both Shaadi’s London and Indian HQs as well as its charismatic founder and former CEO, the multimillionaire Anupam Mittal and his model wife Anchal (pictured below).
