'Would You Wear My Eyes' - Charnwood Arts Emerging Artists

  • Samuel Thompson-Plant

Resident artist on the Emerging Artist scheme with Charnwood Arts. Supplied with a space to develop and sustain our practices, support and talks from visiting artists and the opportunity to exhibit our work in a working farmhouse. Wrote exhibition texts, communications and promotions for the Emerging Artist exhibition, entitled 'Would You Wear My Eyes': "Would You Wear My Eyes presents the works of emerging artists from the East Midlands, who have taken part in Charnwood Art’s Emerging Artist Programme over the summer and autumn of 2021. The exhibition presents a fluctuation of themes, drawing together the practices of seven emerging artists working in multiple mediums. The artists showcasing represent a reaching to understand our experiences, whether digging into the past for meaning, observing the present, or presenting new ways of experiencing everyday life for future generations. Held in an unconventional rural farm location on the outskirts of the town, the practices of the artists meet in a space which is both familiar and alien. In representing a diverse range of perspectives, the exhibition focuses on the act of thinking as another, stripping down our perspectives of the world and identifying mutuality in our experiences. It asks the audience to experience as another does, to build bridges and poses the question, WOULD YOU WEAR MY EYES?"
