YAPPEDOUTPODCAST X ACTORS PUB: Black History Month
We are over the moon to have collaborated with the Actors Pub @theactorsbrighton to present a series of workshops and events to celebrate Black History Month, at their "Black History Month Fest"!
Every Friday in October, we hosted a different event, from 5pm-7pm, with most of our workshops are accessible to ages 10+! Here are the list of events/workshops we will be delivering this Black History Month:
7th October, ages 10+, 5pm-7pm: “SAY THEIR NAMES!” Art Workshop:
In the light of Chris Kaba, Jay Abatan and UK victims who have lost their lives to police brutality and racism, we will be approaching the topic through painting, arts and crafts, and robust discussions!
14th October, ages 10+, 5pm-7pm: “What Does It Mean To Be Black?” Poetry Workshop:
By exploring the complexity of the Black identity through poetry, you will leave our session filled with self-love, empowerment and joy! What does it mean to be Black...how would you narrate it? What words would you use to describe your existence as a Black person?
October 21st, ages 10+, 5pm-7pm: “BLACK JOY!” Drama Workshop:
We will be devling into some dramatic techniques and creating scenes of what we think black joy looks like and recreating moments from our lives where it shone through the most. Black Joy now, and forever!
October 28th, ages 16+, 5pm-7pm:
Witness and be a part of the intimate experience of podcasting! We have invited guests to engage in a live discussion around “Being Black in Britain”, with a chance of a Q&A, where you get to ask questions and get to know our local podcast. There will be an after-party, with live music provided by two local artists, so people can network, buy drinks and celebrate the end of our workshops.
