Young Mum

This photo series is called “young mum” I created this series to highlight the societal pressures and lack of self expression we allow young mums to have and how young mothers can even feel isolated from motherhood due to their self expression. We teach our children to be themselves, how can we teach them this if we don’t apply this to our own lives? Motherhood comes in all shapes and sizes, to be a mum you don’t have to loose yourself. Being authentically you, no matter what that may appear like to others is the example that will teach our children to love themselves unconditionally. Mums need to see themselves in the mirror, the true essence of them- not what society deems a mother should look like. This photo series explores a young mums relationship with herself through the female gaze and how precious one’s self expression is. Before we were mothers we were children learning how to love and understand ourselves, this personal growth should never stop!
