As an entry-level creative, what are some of the things you’d like to know more about as you start out on your journey post graduating?

I’ll be holding a creatives talk titled: ‘GAINING ACCESS’ on the 31st August in Shoreditch through my brand IdentityCreates.

Which is a platform for entry-level creatives to gain insight and access into all things industry, job opportunities, enhancing digital skills and well-being.

The speakers on the night will be:
• Pip Jamieson - Founder of The Dots
• Nierodha Perera - Videographer at ASOS
• Sandra Adu - Graphic Designer at Profusion

  • Hey Jennie!
    Wow! These ar me great points you raised and I’m glad that I asked this question because my point proven that there are so many questions that we juniors have but go unanswered. It’s a general conversation that needs to be had!
  • Hey Adobera! I received some really great questions from an (almost) graduated graphic design student a while back that might be useful. I’ll paraphrase the email;
    What’re skills/ assets did you learned in college that you felt ended up rewarding you the most in finding a position? When you got into the “real world” what did you look back on in your education and found lacking? So many job postings require a slew of credentials- is this really expected, or are these just recruiters talking? The portfolio interview is a daunting moment- any general tips around etiquette for before, during and after? (secret things that people wished were done but maybe usually go unsaid?). How many projects do people actually expect to see in a juniors book? Are there really rules for how long student work can stilll be shown if the designer feels it indicates the direction they want to head in, but haven’t been able to yet?
    Best of luck! x
