Brand vs Branding 👀☕️

We’ve all heard the expression “a brand is more than a logo”. While this is absolutely true, some might think that this applies only to things that can be branded, like business cards or websites. That just isn't the case.

While brands and branding are often confused, one is an emotion and the other is a marketing tool. Brand and branding are similar but aren't quite the same, branding is the process of creating a brand, and brand identity is part of that process.

So, What is a brand?

When you hear the word “brand”, you might think of a logo or website. But it’s so much more than that.
Branding is how others perceive your business. It's how you establish connections with your audience. It’s your reputation, and what others say about you when you aren't around. Brands build relationships, create loyalty in customers, and make businesses stand out in a competitive market.

Take a moment to think about a brand you enjoy, my personal fav is TARGET...surprise surprise. What is it that makes you keep coming back for more? These brands have created something that makes you stay loyal, regardless of the price tag!

You create your brand almost entirely based on the feelings and experiences that your audience has when they encounter your business. Your brand is shaped by how your customers feel when they do business with you. It’s the words and emotions people use to describe your business to friends, family, and even colleagues.

So, what's branding?

Essentially brand building is the process of influencing other people's perception of your brand. It is a marketing tool. Having a strong brand/brand identity is what your business needs to do to break through the noise and stand out in a crowded field. Branding is a necessity if you want your business to succeed, and it won't just be something you “might do”. It is something you MUST DO.

Building your brand's visual identity is branding. Creating your brand's message is branding. Writing content for social media and developing a unique brand voice is branding.

With branding, you can compete with the competition while creating a consistently positive experience for your audience and converting first-time buyers into long-term customers.

So to sum it up...your brand is how others perceive your business. It’s the emotional connection you make with your audience. Branding is the set of actions you perform to build your brand. It is how you influence how others perceive your brand.
