Calling all the furniture designers out there (and anyone with an interest in furniture).
Do you have any suggestions on how to find an internship or a job in this specific field?
Is there a company, studio or recruitment agency in the UK that you would like to suggest a possible starting point? Or any furniture designers that are open to a chat about their career?
Many thanks!

- @Angelina Gligorova I was working with Hays they were very helpful in job searching. You cab also try to contact the companies you like directly. Good luck!
- Hi Deborah!
- I’ve always found dezeen jobs and LinkedIn to be the most effective. But it depends on what kind of industry you’re interested in.Best bet is to reach out to furniture and product design recruitment specialists if you’re stuck. CareersinDesign.com is a good place to start.
- What sort of furniture do you design / want to design? Do you have an online portfolio? Where did you study?I'm not actually a furniture designer, but my most recent role was at a furniture designer and manufacturers called zioxi (small business who supply the education sector with innovative furniture) and I did a design degree.I also design and make furniture for fun.My suggestion would be to contact all the places that you would like to work at with your portfolio asking if they would take you on as an intern. Maybe even print and send your portfolio to your top ten for added impact. If you are able to (if you can live at home rent free), keep designing ideas and getting better and adding to your portfolio in the style of the places that you want to work at. Don't just accept something you are not happy with. Be patient, it could take a LONG time to get your foot in the door of the place you really want to work. When you are given a chance, make sure you nail it!!
