Dear "Future Mentor": I'm a music composer in search for some strategies on how to balance my career and find other creatives to work with!

I'm a musician, music composer from Porto (Portugal).
And I'm petty sure that my questions, doubts are nothing new: I believe every artist wnats to find meaningfull connections and creatives minds alike on which you could grow and create more and more work and, hopefully, create your "space" in the industry, in the field, in the "geographical area" you're in.

Portugal is not the biggest hub in terms of finding people to work with, finding the "openness" and the willing of mentoring; it can be (as I'm sure it has similar traits on every city, country) very monopolized, restricted to a very few on the "guests list".

Although I write to filmmakers, to creative directors, to production houses, getting some feedback is almost (barely) none: Or they ask you to work for free, in order to have some kind of "seal of approval" that I've never been able to captilized due to never have heard from them before, or they simply don't awnser you back at all.

And I can understand at some extent: they have their own life, probably a family too and their own "problems"!

And so I'm always looking for other ways to connect with people in the fileds I would like to work and being able to grow as an artist, as a person and to create, to "rent" :) a small space for me in the artistic community I'm in.

That's the reason of my search for a mentor: someone that could give me some advices on my career, someone that probably have experienced some similar difficulties/struggles that I'm experiencing and to heard and learn from them on how to balance all of the "caos" that sometimes you're faced with and find some balance and equilibirum on your life.

@Pip Jamieson I'm also tagging you if you know someone specific on this fields, with whom I could contact with.

Thank you for your time, I trully appreciate that.

Sincerely,

Bruno
