  • @Ylenia Reyes Hi Ylenia,

Thank you so much for the advice, it's really helpful especially in an industry that often feels intimidating.

  • Great advice from Ylenia! I would add that emailing video production companies and offering a service that represents great value for money is a brilliant way to get your foot in the door.
  • Hi Eleanor! I'm on my way to to get a freelance job as a video editor, and from what I've learned from people who is already working as freelancers in video editing, the best thing to start is having your own website with all your work, and start applying with that to any job that interests you. You can look for jobs in Fiverr, PeoplePerHour, LinkdIn, UpWork, Indeed... What companies/individuals will be more interested on will be your past work, so make sure you have a place where they can find all of your past work. It would also help to have a showreel so everything is in one same video. Facebook is also a good place to have your professional profile and connect with people in the industry to find out about paid opportunities, there are also Facebook groups of video editors that share work offers for anyone to apply, so you can join to those too. Finally, you can start attending film festivals for networking, I would recommend you to bring your business card with you. Hope that helps!
