Feedback on my website ✨

Hi all!

Since we all have this time to reflect I was wondering if you might have some time to check on my website/portolio! I’m really curious what you think of it! www.angelahuizer.com

  • @Angela Huizer I have been using wordpress and divi which is powered by elegant themes. Found it very user friendly for both front end and back end. Lots of editiable features and you can add your own code. You can purchase a yearly subscription or a one off lifetime fee. Which in the long run is cheaper than WIX, Squarespace and format for your example.

Thank you and the same goes to you :)
  • @Jon Payne

    Thank you for this Jon!

I like the idea of making a load more button, it get's to some peoples attention again. And I agree with having to many pages. I like how it's like an overall feel rather than having 25 pages for all my projects with just 3 to 5 images in there.

Thank you this is much appreciated!

Have a good and safe weekend.

  • @Ashley Paul Bell

I am currently using Format, where they have the standard layouts. I used to have squarespace to but honestly would love to just start from scratch and make my own webite by myself. Maybe you have any tips where I could start doing this?

And I totally agree on what you just said I really need to look into what my audiance and the industry likes to see at the moment, but of course this is also a thing where everyone is very oppinionated, because of everyone having their own tastes which they prefer.

Thanks for this Ashley! it really made me think on what I should do. Much appreciated.

Hope you are having a great and safe weekend!

  • Maybe limit to 2-3 max from a shoot. Just the very best ones. Any unsure or just put in to fill...would take out.

Possibly reduce the spacing between the images, so user knows more images to follow.

I don't think there is a problem with scrolling.... how users interact with main social channels - twitter, instagram, facebook.... social norm, accepted .... if you wanted to place something... maybe a load more button.

If the images are strong and easy flow...people will want to scroll or have got your style in the earlier images seen.

You want the experince to be the easiest it can be, make the user lazy.... not lots of pages to get through....

    Have a good weekend.

  • Hi Angela,
I would remove those unlimited scrolls, after all it's not facebook, maybe some categories will help and pages, like 1, 2, 3 etc., also the images are too chaotic placed, to be honset, okay you wanted to be creative, but I think it talks that your shots are chaotically shooted, it's just my oppinion on it. Hope it helps!
  • @Angela Huizer What platform are you using to create your site? There is nothing wrong with looking too clean! It all depends on your audience, our industry is very opinionated, but what matters most is that you feel proud to share your work. As long as you are achieveing what you set out to do.

Maybe when you come to refresh your site then by all means you could look at what could make it different?
  • @Ashley Paul Bell I get what you're saying an totally agree on that! I've been wanting to make more animations to make it look more interesting, I think it's a bit too clean now and can be more creative?
  • @Angela Huizer Some lovely shots on your website. Maybe you could benefit with some simple animated movement or even a mouse parallax, which would give the user something different when they are scrolling through your work.
