We’re investigating the experiences of freelancers in the creative industries to understand what makes for a great collaboration, and what more the industry can be doing to support them.
This 5-minute survey is open to anyone that currently freelances, or is open to the idea of taking on other projects around their usual commitments. Follow the link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScNibzK0NR42m34vYh8hVgAjBZv5n0cqm3hOqHv2UrZQdm8tw/viewform?usp=sf_link

- Hey Kate, hope you're well. I've just filled out your survey!I work as a Freelance Designer & Illustrator, based in London.https://www.rhianwell.com
- @Kate Knowles agreed! I'll have a look at your survey, thanks!
- @Daniel EnglandThere's a lot of people out there looking to collaborate in better ways, and in the freelancer / agency relationship everyone wins if the system works better. So from a self preservation point of view all companies dependent on freelancers should have open ears for how to brief, collaborate, work better!I agree some things can't be solved by polite conversation, but I definitely think that raising awareness of the issues facing freelancers, and proposing a better way forward, is a good first step.Would be really interested to get your perspective (and I've now changed the link so it actually works haha) https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScNibzK0NR42m34vYh8hVgAjBZv5n0cqm3hOqHv2UrZQdm8tw/viewform?usp=sf_link
- @Katja Plasse Hi Katja, thanks for flagging, hopefully this link should https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScNibzK0NR42m34vYh8hVgAjBZv5n0cqm3hOqHv2UrZQdm8tw/viewform?usp=sf_link
- hi, the link doesn’t seem to work?
- Of course it should! But in the entire course of human history, nothing has ever got fairer due to people politely pointing out inequity and suggesting that, well, maybe that's a little bit out of order. Things only ever change if the system is challenged. So creative freelancers would have to create a solidarity movement and strike. In huge numbers.I can't quite see that happening in 2023... I think the horrible reality is it's likely to be a year when lots of us drop out and go and find other (probably less satisfying) work.I do hope I'm wrong though!
