Hello! As a writer/creative, I’m thinking of starting a blog but not sure if Instagram or a website is a better platform?
Any opinion and suggestions are welcome! I’m looking to branch into writing about fashion and lifestyle.

- Always put your work on a platform you own, otherwise you’re at the mercy of policy changes, deletion, etc. If you want to write on medium or Instagram, use those platforms to drive traffic to a platform you do own (like your own website).
- I would recommend having both platforms. They compliment each other.
- Hi, Parisa -- Your question raises other issues that maybe need to be answered first, ranging from how familiar or proficient you are with SEO best practices, to what sort of audience you want to reach, to the type of blogging you're aiming to produce (ruminative, political, personal, etc.). Generally, I'd say that Instagram blogging requires less effort, while website blogging -- at least for now -- tends to confer a bit more "legitimacy."HOWEVER, there is also the *very* thorny issue of copyright, and what rights you relinquish or keep when you post to Instagram vs. posting to a blog that you've built and maintain yourself. (No one wants to read IG's terms of service, but remember that Facebook, IG, Twitter and the rest are not in the social media business because they're generous and kind and want to give away content. Ultimately, your data is their data, for better or worse.)I'm not sure if any of that helps, but I definitely recommended thinking hard about who you want to reach with your blog, and why, and then decide which platform makes the most sense based on that crucial consideration.
