Hello everyone! I'm a graphic designer ; how much do you charge your clients for a webdesign project and what is your ondoarding process ?

  • @Mélanie Joly It's not just calculating ages and time based on that, fi. it depends on complexity like do they have some unique features / functions that I would have to reasearch / think about or is it a simply thing fi. home page, product / service page, about us, contact kinda site.

Also I try to figure out the client itself like how much changes I could expect from them, website designs seems to be something love to adjust all the time, particularly if it's B2C. I often say my original price includes 2 round of amends and after we go with a hourly rate otherwise it can go really endless with amends.

So overall yes it's calculating time but there are quite a few factors to consider.
  • @Mélanie Joly Awesome! Let me know how it goes. I've also considered using Framer, the end result should be quite similar pricing wise.
  • @Hana Sipkova Thank you so much ! I'm actually about to use Framer (quite similar to Webflow I think), so that is really useful ! Thank you :)

Awesome, thank you for your precisions! So, when you are looking at how long it will take with your client, you are counting the number of pages and then calculating the time for you to do them?
  • Hi Melanie,

It highly varies based on a few factor:
    - the conplexity of the site
    - your experience
    - size of client

I would say with my experience (10 years) for a one page simply site I charge £1K. However someone junior possibly would do it for £300, obviously not in the same quality. As an other example to built a complez ecom site for a big brand with 1m+ followers I charg something between £20-30K, without development.

One easy way to define your price is knowing your day rate and how long it will take as a start point for small clients. If they are big you can double up the number etc.. but so you just have to have an understanding about timing, your experience and how much money the client has.
  • Hi Melanie, it depends greatly on the complexity of the project and other factors. I'm a product designer for many years, but most recently I've been learning web design with Webflow and I came across this useful site while taking a Flux course for calculating project price and it's free! Check it out: https://www.cashyourflow.com/ It might be different for web development with other tools but I found this to be pretty accurate. Hope this helps!
