Hey everyone I was wondering where can I purchase a good quality a3 scanner for my artwork?

  • There are A3 scanners in the market but these are pricey due to the low demand for these. Most large companies would not purchase one large scanner, they most likely get combination of a scanner and a printer together (https://business.currys.co.uk/catalogue/item/P155368P) but these can be very large and not ideal for home usage as well as being more pricey!

I had a quick look online and find this - https://www.thescannershop.com/a3-scanners/ As you can see, these are pricey for A3 scanner only.

If you are starting out, then I would suggest getting one A4 scanner and piece the two pieces together in Photoshop to form the A3 image again. It would take longer to process but it would be cheaper as well as you have control to clean up your artwork.

Personally, I wouldn't use a camera method due to lighting, studio space and setup issues. For starters, you will need a decent lighting equipment to spread the light evenly, the time to setup the stage for the artwork... etc.

If you lucky enough to have a studio and have a small area of space for the lighting equipment. Great, then the camera method might be ideal for you, where you would not need pack away afterwards.

I hope this answers your question, If you have anything else. Feel free to drop a message.

    Thank you,

  • Why not just get a good camera? will work on every sizes, that and a simple photo editor will do the trick.
  • Hi T’shara

A3 scanners can be tricky to find, and can be expensive depending on the resolution you need. A colleague of my recently purchased the Plustek OpticSlim 1180 from Currys. It’s quite affordable and she uses it to scan textures for use as part of a digital collage. Hope this helps.
  • I have been looking at a3 printers myself and i couldnt find any but i found this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Epson-Perfection-Flatbed-Scanner-Black/dp/B01GJZS2FY/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=a3+epson+scanner&qid=1590871470&s=computers&sr=1-2

    i hope this helps.
