Hey, I’d really appreciate some feedback on my website/work. I’m open to anything you guys have to say about it!

  • @Daniel Haddad No worries at all. Portfolios are hard, and I took forever to create mine. Terminology is key, so words like 'Featured' obviously means different things to different people.

I went to a few of The Dots's Portfolio masterclasses (they were really helpful) and one of the key things was to be open about what your role was on each project. I don't think you need to seperate the two, just make it clear on a project by project basis what your role and responsibility was, and some more context to the work and craft you have put into it. Don't undersell your work.
  • @Carl Feltham After hearing everyone’s responses and yours, I think it’s safe to say that I need to focus on just making the page concise, and focusing on the main page than spreading everything around. Thanks a lot for the response man, it’s all definitely making a difference!
  • @Carl Feltham Hey Carl, completely understand the problem with having the work page there when half my work is already on the home page, definitely would make the website as a whole tighter and more focused. The idea of the featured page was to try and show projects I’ve been a part of that I don’t own since everything on the work/home page are things that I’ve fully produced. That’s the idea I had in mind for the page, and to have a section where I explain that I don’t own the product but was just a part of it.
  • @Daniel Haddad I'd advise removing the current work page, and rebuilding your homepage to contain it all. The work page feels a little un-necessary, and maybe just make the homepage work a little harder.

I'd also say to think about the best work you want to present on the site, because having the homepage, work, photography and featured all feels a little conflicting. What's the difference between featured and work? Could these be merged to ensure that any employer/client sees what you want them to as quickly as possible? The same with things like the recommendation on the about page. I'd never go there and expect to see your recommended piece of work. This should be front and centre.

It's just about keeping it simple, and if you can give any further background on each of the videos, so we know what you did may help?

    I hope this helps.
  • @Donna Marie Howard Hey Donna, Id say this is more than enough substantial feedback!l, definitely more in depth than what I was expecting! I really appreciate the time you took to look into my page and write that out to me. I’ll definitely take everything into consideration for the website and remember the tips on my writing. Thanks a lot!
  • @Ranno Kasemaa Hey Renno, thanks for giving me some feedback and i’m glad you have some positive thoughts on the website! The wixsite is definitely something to be removed once I finalise all the changes and pay for that upgrade! I think the tip about having less clicks is great, i’ll make sure people can watch them right from the first page. I’ll take everything into consideration before I finalise anything! Thanks again man.
  • @Abbas Mirza Hey Abbas, thanks for he feedback man. I definitely need to maintain the quality of the first page throughout the whole website. There’s more room for consistency and polishing for sure. I appreciate the help!
  • Hi Daniel,
The first thoughts are positive and I like your approach and style.

I was wondering if it's still a work in progress, as the address itself is containing the "wixsites" and giving it an unfinished feel.

You are nicely showcasing your work on the first page on thumbnails but you can't click on them to see what they are. Not sure if it's just me, but I needed to find a workaround via going to your "work" tab or "see more videos". I've learned that the fewer clicks you have to do to get to content the better.

Stary safe and keep up the good work!
  • Hey, it is pretty good. I like the theme you have chosen, pretty artistic and says a lot about you. Try polishing it more ? and highlight the important bits such as your mail etc under the contact option. Try to maintain the quality of your hompage on other pages too or wherever needed.
