Hi, I'm looking for some genuine feedback on my new website www.gretakalva.com and professional advice on how to improve my photography:)

  • Hello, thanks for sharing! I agree with Sophie's comment. looks great and reducing the space between the title and subtitle would help, so that your images can be seen straight away and not cut off at the bottom of the screen.

Last quick thing is you have 'Fine Art' as the third gallery but when you click you are taken to 'Fashion', I would decied on one or the other.

Lovely work Greta! Loving your still life!
  • Here are some ideas.

    1) Homepage. As mentioned I would reduce space between navigation row + thumbnails. Also note that text portfolio is white and not visible.
    2) I don't think actually that you need title Portfolio + Below you can see links to my galleries. Click on an image to view the gallery. Remove these and add 1-2 sentences who you are and what do you offer.
    3) Overall style works out good in my opinion. It brings your photos into focus and is tasteful.
    4) Not sure if horizontal scroll is the best. Maybe use grid and then in lightbox/modal window users could go left-right.
    5) I feel that share icons ruin the experience a bit. Are they really important? How many sharings do you get? I don't think that they are intuitive. Based on the location it may feel like they should re-direct into your social media accounts. Also Pinterest icon hides behind browser scroll bar.
    6) No comments about the work. Looks great for me. In some cases I would even like to see those images in full size. So could be cool if in modal/lightbox you can click and they zoom in and then you could pan around.
    7) About. Could be cool to see your photo and maybe bit more content.
Also I feel that typography could be better. Why is type size different than in other pages? This underline/border-bottom doesn't add any value.
Good web readability is around 65 letters per line. You have much more.
    8) Contact. Maybe side by side layout. Could be more minimal.
    9) Add some nice favicon
    10) Mobile menu looks bit bold and I am not even sure that you actually need hamburger.
  • Landing page is nice, but maybe reducing the space between the subtitle and title will really make the work pop. Same applies for the About Me page, contact page looks good. Also is the street address your studio? Because if it is your home then that could be a security risk.
