How do I a 22 yr old fresh out of University navigate myself into the creative, pr and media communications industry?
I had just finished University in November 2023 with a 2:1 upper class with honours, However the journey wasn't easy. I started University Jan 2021 during the peak of COVID 19 when the whole world was in Lockdown. So the first two years of my degree was spent online. As we all know during first and second year most students tend to get internships however because of lockdown during COVID I was stripped of the chance to recieve substancle internship experince. I had recvied internships at the end of second year summer 2022 but it was volunteer level. when the world started to open but by then I was on my way finshing second year and on my way to start third year.
I feel like this has caused a hindernce with my job hunt in my field. I really want to get an internship level role in creative industry but I feel that prospect may be finished unless I get a masters and even then that isn't promised. Right now I'm relying on freelance in behind the scenes photography and videography to get me by. Here's a draft of my portfolio I am building where I have produced Behind The Scenes Content For Upcoming Creatives, Brands, Athelets, Musicians etc.

But if anyone have advice how I can make my first steps into the creative, pr and media communictions industry it would be greatful.

- Internships or entry level roles in diverse organisations. So, don't just search for "creative" industries, remember you can apply media, PR and comms into many roles. For example, I graduated with a media & comms degree and was looking for creative roles when I could have also searched for entry roles in communications and content management, etc in finance, public sector roles or even within healthcare. Good luck!
