How do you feel about Culture? The National Theatre is predicted to loose of £10-20 million in income if repairs do not go ahead.

🎭 The National Theatre Wales has lost all its Arts Council funding. In the long term, if no further funding is found, the Arts Council England owned South Bank site would become an abandoned grade II listed building.

🎭 In fact 2/5 of UK theatres are in danger of becoming too unsafe to use within the next 5 years without "sustainable and systematic investment".

We know that the government coffers are empty and that there is a long queue of public services that desperately need more finance.

So is theatre just entertainment that should not be on that list of deserving causes?

💡 Did you know that the performing arts sector contributes approximately £2.7 billion to the UK economy? It also attracts tourism and supports other sectors such as hospitality and retail.
💡 Did you know that 20-50% of performing arts activities are community or education based?

They work to provide support to the community with workshops and education. They address real world issues such as PTSD, dementia, death and loss to educate, reduce stigma and foster empathy, helping individuals to navigate these difficult challenges.

With a reduction in youth services, mental health services and extra curricular education, should we be defunding the arts too?
