How do you price your design work when we are developing a handbag or a collection of handbags? What is the right price for your work?

Do you earn for each project, a commission, royalty payments, etc the value is the same if it's a large production ? How would appreciate if you help me figuring this out , thank you.

  • Hi, Ricardo!

It depends on a plethora of different factors (i.e. scale of the project, the amount of work needed - is it developing the brand identity as a whole from scratch? Is it just for product marketing?)

However, if you were to hire a freelance designer, and it heavily depends on each individual, but most people tend to charge daily fees after a certain list of targets is agreed by both - the client and the designer. More work - higher fees, higher risks (as in scale of production & company) - higher fees, etcetra. It obviously also depends on the seniority of the designer - a more experienced, accomplished designer who shows more reliability will charge more just based on the skill and experience that he brings to the job (£300 p/d and above). On the other end - junior designers will charge less because of the obvious lack of track record (£100 p/d and above).

But again - a lot of different factors that affect this, so I encourage you to message a designer that might match what you're after specifically and inquiring personally.
