I am an American planning to move to London after college graduation in a few weeks. I can do so with the HPI Visa so I don't need sponsor

I was hoping for some advice when applying for jobs. I completely understand that it's easier to hire someone from the UK and not an American but is there anything I can do to try and market myself more? I include in my cover letters that I am moving and don't need sponsorship to work (for at most 2 years) and that I am very serious about this decision. But I know it's still difficult. Do I need to move first? It feels reckless but I really want this. Thank you for any info!
