  • @Denel Rosa-Roach yay epiccc thanks again for the kind words and advice !! :)
  • @Nicholas Duncan No worries! 🙌🏾 It can get expensive especially hiring someone to make you a professional demo. But go for it, it’s clear you have a background where you’re pretty confident whilst utilising a microphone and the fact you can pull off some impressions utilising your voice + Vtuber’s most of the time are super expressive. Meaning you are at a pretty good start it seems, just training/practicing daily and classes will definitely push you to become a great VO for sure knowing you seem to have a pretty great understanding how to utilise your voice. Btw what’s your channel?
  • @Denel Rosa-Roach thank you so much for replying and really going into detail about the steps and processes I could take towards becoming a VA 👍, I come from a background of content creation from being a Vtuber to a normal facecam content creator, whilst I was in this phase of content creation (Vtubing) I did try and experiment with different voices and accents. For E.G i can pull of a good Yoshi/ Stich voice aswell as Golum and a Australian accent (still need a lot of work on accents) so I was really woundering where I could take those voices, now that you have given me examples and places I can display my work I will definitely start to build up that portfolio. Furthermore, somone els also hilighted the acting class skills that I need and I will definitely try and sign up to one of those programs, I think overall since I wanna try VA as a passion/ hobby I think I now have a good understanding of where to start I just need to gather the proper skills and make my work be known :) thank you again !!
  • I mean most voice actors start by taking regular acting classes as you need those basic skills to really be able to grasp elements of emotion and character personalities. Getting involved more in the acting industry is also a good place to weave into as it teaches you so much about what it means to be an actor before stemming into the voice acting community
  • I recommend create your own home studio. So getting a quality XLR microphone with a preamp and a setup, sound proofing your environment you could even D.I.Y, makeshift these things with what you have at home. Getting a program where you can record, for example a majority use Audacity. It’s free and super simple to setup on Windows and Mac. If you’ve never acted before I recommend taking Voice Over classes, I have no idea if BRIT offer these yet, but looking into if they’re reputable, amazing at what they do and a good track record. Now what to do, I’d suggest reading Dialogue. You can find scripts anywhere especially in BRIT’s Library or places like National Theatre. Or even from your favourite shows, anime, games or movies. Just start acting, once you have a microphone. Getting comfortable in a character and enunciating your words. You don’t have to so many voice’s, most VA’s have just have at least 2 distinct voices but they can be differentiated due to the characters they are playing so don’t worry about only being able to pull off one voice. Range is always great, since you’ll be able to play a lot of characters but if you are able to just act amazingly well in your regular speaking voice you’ll be just fine. I’d also recommend practicing an American accent, since a lot of the work you may want in Voice Over like Anime will more than likely have an American direction. English accents are common in games, movies and television for example in the recent FFXVI but a lot less cartoon’s but it’s always useful to expand what accents you could perform in. The key to it all is can you act, can you deliver these emotion’s with just your voice and can you bring this character to justice and can you bring them alive. Now if you already have most of this stuff, I’d start recording demo’s where you can post them on a platform like SoundCloud and building a free website where you could link these demo’s. Looking for auditions, whether through looking for Fan-Made Dubbing Stuff, Video Game Mod’s, Indie Animation’s or even joining the Voice Acting Club discord just voice stuff over there. All in that’s best I could prolly give you, also one more tip Rejection is a big thing in acting so be prepared to be rejected or not hear back from the stuff you voiced for especially since this a competitive industry with like minded people like yourself. But you’ll do great, just get out there!
