Im looking to apply for UALs art direction course from a completely unrelated degree. I would really appreciate some feedback or help?

  • Hi,

I did two courses on Central Saint Martins (part of UAL I guess you know) a BA in Graphic Design and MA in Communication Design. If I'm extremely honest the BA made sense the MA was a waste of time, generally it very varies by year how much you can learn. I would say don't expect a magic from a Uni course in art direction if you do a bit of research you can see the most talented people don't have a tendency going for uni in the creative industry. The good and bad thing about making a career as a creative that it has to be self-initiated. A uni course maybe gives a good frame for it but you should have a rough idea what you want to achieve style wise / what is your expertise / own voice. Hope it helps.
