Is it possible to share my the-dots portfolio with potential clients who are not on the-dots?
I'm considering switching to using the-dots as a primary showcase for my work, but it would be important to be able to share my portfolio with potential clients who may not subscribe to the-dots, and may not wish to. Does anyone know if this is possible?

- @Jessica Jones Instagram? Youtube?
- Hi @Pip Jamieson,You might be interested in this thread that raises an issue that negatively affects the usefulness of The-Dots platform for freelancers. Any advice or feedback will be most helpful.
- @CharlotteCox, @O.MaciotiThis is very frustrating. I thought that I had found a great platform on which to showcase my work - I particularly like the clear layout that is led by visuals. But this limitation severely limits the usefulness of The-Dots platform for freelancers (who, I imagine, are the core target user base). I have previously tried to contact The-Dots to ask them this question, but have received no reply. Does anyone have any suggestions for portfolio sharing platforms (apart from LinkedIn)?
- @Charlotte Cox done!
- @Charlotte Cox Jessica it doesn't work when logged out which feels a bit cheeky as LinkedIn does and so does Instagram...I only just found out because of your query and realise that my CV link is now redundant?! Perhaps the Dots team would consider changing access to our links for non members as it would both help us freelancers and may well get new members at the same time.I actually feel very unprofessional now as I have posted my link to many businesses and would not have if I'd realised.Does anyone else feel the same way?
- @Jessica Jones It worked but maybe you need to send to a different email as I am registered using the same one and could be why it worked.Try: charliecox28@gmail.com
- @Jessica Jones I did one just now but unfortunately it failed! You may be better off looking for a more suitable project/portfolio platform.
- @O. Macioti Hey O. How did your trial run go?
- @Charlotte Cox Thank you so much. I have emailed you.
- If you like Jessica, send me your link via my email and I can tell you if it works as the link worked from here. My email: transforumtheatrecompany@gmail.com
- @Charlotte Cox Same thing. When not logged in to The-Dots, my project page appaears but then when I try to scroll or look at anything is immediately greyed out and covered by a 'join The-Dots' banner. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? This is the link I am using: https://the-dots.com/users/jessica-jones-137568#projects
- For some reason it works for me...have you gone to your project's page? Your name should come up on that...
- @Charlotte Cox Oh thank you. I copied the link then logged out and entered the link on a different browser. My profile appeared but as I tried to view it, it greyed out and the lower half of the screen was covered by a panel inviting me to join The-Dots. So it seems that non-members cannot view our portfolios. This definitely makes The-Dots less useful to me.
- @Jessica Jones go on the address at top of dots page, press it and then click on link when it gives you the option. You can just write the dots on Google and your dots URL should show up...try clicking on that for some time and the option to share should come on too!
- @Charlotte Cox Ooo thanks. May I ask how you created the link?
- I’ve personally found people usually couldn’t access my portfolio unless they signed up to The Dots first. It’s been a few months since I last tried so my input might be outdated, but I’d do a trial run just in case!
- I have created a link and that works!
