Looking for disabled and non-disabled filmmakers to join our inclusive team, telling a unique story about a Paralympic athlete

What does success mean to you?

We are looking for filmmakers to join our inclusive team that is producing a short cinematic doc about Para-canoeist Rob Oliver’s journey of personal growth, that challenges our perceptions of what success means, especially at an elite level where mental health is often sacrificed for the pursuit of podium glory.

We are specifically looking for creatives in these roles:
- Camera Crew
- Senior Editor
- Colourist
- Sound Recordist
- Sound Mixing
- Composer

While disability is prominent on-screen, we believe it is crucial to do the same off screen. We want to give disabled artists a platform to work on all levels of the production process, and add to our already growing inclusive team. This means that we want both non-disabled and disabled filmmakers to apply.

Shoot Dates:
9 + 10 October
16 + 17 October

Post-Production Dates:
Mid-October to Late November

Release:
3rd December 2021

Budget:
This project is entirely self-funded via the director, therefore we will be offering expenses only to all crew. There will be an immediate release in Decemeber 2021, to allow the team to utilise the film for their own work too.

Directors Vision:
“I want to create a cinematic piece that really utilises the explosive and impactful visuals of Rob’s sport, helping to alleviate the films story through the stark contrast of sporting action, and ‘regular mundane life’. While we want to create an aesthetic that puts a disabled story in the same league as other commercially-made films, this is a doc where the focus is not on a disabled person ‘overcoming’ their disability. I feel that it is incredibly important that the film approaches Rob as ‘just another guy’, focusing on his character, and the choices he makes, rather than pitying him because of his perceived ‘disadvantage’.”

Post-work can be done remotely.
