Moving back to London for postgrad. Campus is at White City but I haven't a clue where to live?!!! Where's the action? Or convenience?

I expect different people will say different things, and some people will find such an open ended question ludicrous, but throw anything you want at me. I know this doesn't sound appropriate for a creative professional site, but trust that it is, because your environment is what keeps you functional, like.

Here's what i know: I'm limited to W, WC, SW, NW. I used to live SE and it was aight. I'm partial to W because W12 is where uni is. Friendships are pretty much central. I would like a garden for satan (my dog) when I get his papers to bring him over (next year.)

I need a decent animation work station, gaming PC setup and drafting table with a lightbox. Like i fully expect my space to be 70% art stuff and 30% life stuff. I like futons, so not a problem.

I don't mind a short let this semester and then something permanent the next where i can setup my dream art studio thing w a nice backyard for my dog to piss in.

Just any tips are welcome. Insult me, but with information. I don't care, just something to get me started.

  • Clapham. It's popular are where most young professionals move to in London. Plus the overground option means it easy to get to places with Shepherds Bush as well as more creative places like Camberwell, Peckham and even Shoreditch.

I would say Hammersmith, Shepherds Bush, Olympia, or West Kensington. These are all close to White City and they all have good connections (ie; tubes, overground trains, buses, and cycle lanes).

These areas also have both local independent retailers, and big brand like John Lewis, Apple, Zara, Waitrose, etc etc, so you'll be covered for all you everyday essentials and tech needs.

Ohh and if you need stuff for your home there is an Ikea in Hammersmith that does a nice student starter pack. But if you want to go high brow there's a Conran shop a few tube stops in Marylebone if you're more Arne Jacobsen then Ikea.

I'll check if there's anthing in Lena Gardens for you.
