On the job hunt at the moment and would love to know how people are you staying motivated during this time?

  • @Freja Budd Hi Freja, Thanks for getting back to me, I love that you are embracing your side hussles. I have been trying to write more and even started to make Tik Tok videos for fun. Good luck with the job hunt ☺️
  • I feel you. What I can def recommend is meditating. Especially the morning and evening meditations of Dr. Joe Dispenza on Youtube are a delight to start with. Even in times of discontent, I feel pretty good during the day and learn to have faith. Also doing yoga, workouts, etc. Keep your body moving, especially when you are a lot sitting or at home.

    Hope these tips help!
  • Hey Amirah, I am in exactly the same position and felt it quite hard to stay motivated. It sounds silly, but what is helping me is trying to think positively that I have so much free time. I've started up some passion projects like writing articles, starting little side hustles that I enjoy doing etc. I am applying continuously for jobs, and although it is hard because not too many people are hiring, what keeps me going and pushing on is knowing there is a light at the end of the tunnel and soon we can return to normality. I would stay to stick at it, keep pushing through, but also use this time as wisely as you can. Good luck gal!
  • I'm staying motivated by using this time period to ponder on and establish what really matters to me, and how I can make a positive difference in my community, this includes in my search for work. As we are in a state of flux, it feels like people are more receptive to positive, proactive change right now, so it feels like anything is possible, more than ever. Good luck with the job hunt.
  • It may be a little over played, however learning something new. Whether it is specific to your current vocation, or if it is simply something you are generally into. I think it is a great motivator. I have signed up for talks within industries I know little about, but I feel are going to be roles that are extremely important in years to come like data analysis. I also want to learn mandarin and French. Hope this helps.
  • By getting my own side projects work related and not, which are helpful to give certain goals and structure to the days. By doing that, when it’s time for job hunting, you can be more focused and targeted on your applications, as you also won’t do that all the time. Also it’s important to accept that these are not normal times, and it is understandable companies won’t hire as much as before until things get more stable, so avoid spending too much time on job hunting as that is unlikely to be time well spent. Things should start picking up soon and remember that when the time comes when you will get a new job, and that will happen, you will look back and wish you would have seized your time off better, so seize it now.
