Photographers!! I’m doing my first ever studio shoot, quite simple but I’m not sure what kit i will need. Any advice is extremely needed!!

I’m shooting my friends single cover, called rainbow, so something with coloured light, using gels, very angelic lighting to make the model look glowy and sun kissed. What lights, stands, other accessories will i need??

  • Think also with a first shoot dont over complicate..... can the styling/makeup bring the rainbow colours in.... or maybe pick one or two gels.... if you check out a colour wheel you can see which work well together eg complimentary etc

A beauty dish maybe a good shout as a key light and have least 2 other lights as a fill and rim.

Other thought would be to have constant lights if your new to flash as you can see what your doing more with constant.... good luck!
  • You’re welcome. There’s a lot more to it message if you would like anymore help 😌
  • Happy to help, it’s always daunting on a first shoot. I would recommend having a play first because lighting isn’t simple. To get angelic lighting I would back light so you can flare it. Gels it would depend on skin tone to what looks best, I would recommend atleast 4 lights. I would maybe get a boom stand with an octabox, also maybe a godox to create shadows
  • also if i were to use gels what specific colours do i need, or what look best to get a rainbow effect??
