Portfolio presentation question...

Hi everyone!
I'm thinking of restructuring my portfolio, I currently have a large number of projects consolidated into a few categories (i.e. editorial illustration, digital design, packaging etc). I made it this way thinking about showcasing my versatility and have an easier time sending people links to a certain aspect of my work, but the trade-off is very long scrolling pages.

Now I'm wondering if a better approach is to present a large number of projects in the landing grid and let my potential clients gravitate towards what speaks to them in a more natural way, resulting in shorter scrollers and hopefully more page views.

This is the portfolio in question BTW: https://sugacyan.com/

Thanks!

  • @Pablo Espinosa No problem, haha yeah I thought it might be. Works well on ecommerce sites so it is possible but are you coding it yourself then? It would be a lot of work, practically a project in itself!
  • Hey guys, thanks for your feedback! There's certainly advantages to both... I may leave the website as it is for a while, but I'll start working on reverting on a more project by project offering in the future and see what works out best. @Eden Allen filtering would be fantastic hah, but beyond what I can currently handle, but thanks for the suggestion :)
  • I really like the way, you've done it. It's easy and straight to the point with the categories. Another option might be to have the best work you really love and want to do more of at the top (as a scrolling page) and at the bottom have a "see more" link or the categories. Not sure, just an idea...
  • Hi, you have some really amazing work. I would say that the categories work well to separate your work. If possible it could be cool to have all your work on one page and then filters for the categories if people want to see a specific type of project? That way viewers have control over what they're looking at. It's a bit out there but just an idea :)
  • For my site, I let every single project have it's own page. That way the user can decide where to look first – like you said, let them gravitate towards somehting. You've got some good work in there that's burried under other work, some people might not scroll that far.
