Question for employers/ HR: What values, skills or qualifications would you consider irreplaceable?

  • @ɐɹoᗡ ɐuu∀ ˥ Thank you. What an interesting response. I'll admit it was rather vague in positioning and industry, but that was on purpose. It is my understanding that The Dots is a creatives platform. That those here are either creatives or work with creatives. It's vagueness could certainly put a person off from answering. But it is open to expression, think of a time an employee made you think 'wow, that's why we hired them' or 'that soft skill is very admirable'. There is no right or wrong answer. There is only the perception and understanding of a moment, a person, an incredible irreplaceable person that leads to the answer.
  • Hi Angelina,

The question is good but you would need to be more specific in what profession you are in. Genereally what makes you unreplaceable if you know things that no one else knows. It can be a program knowledge, a combination of programs, a combinations of skills. It does help if you are simply naturally gifted to be the smartest person in the room, but if you don't know how to apply your brain for the employers' needs, it's still nothing.

I would not highlight anything particular software etc. wise as this things are changing extremely fast, it also depends what you are interested in. But so generally do not get tempted by doing vanilla things, have a portfolio that makes people think and gives the idea of your understanting about the world, good knowledge of softwares and / or analog stuffs.
  • @Cathy at The Dots Thank you Cathy. I am not currently looking for work however I am gaining more skills to become irreplaceble and valuable. Though I have learnt much from your response, my question still is unanswered by those that hire. What is a skill/knowledge that you would find a employee to have, that would make them irreplacable.
