Recent grad with a film and theatre degree, advice for work in the theatre and creative industry as its being affected by COVID

  • Hello Justine, There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes at present. Many groups of actors are play-reading; many individuals are organising entertainments for others - in hospitals, care homes, street theatre. People are organising drive-in movies. And concerts on water. Everything in accordance with government advice.

So, grab your pals and start creating your own work.

Theatre, as we knew it in the old days, will not fully return until a vaccine has been sourced and people feel safe to go into the old and crowded buildings of London and the regional theatres - backstage and front of house.

Read lots, work out what you really want to do in which industry. And then bang on as many doors as you possibly can to see if you can get hired as an intern - just to watch how it is all done. And, at the same time, create your own work with your friends.

If you sit at home watching the box, you will never move forward. (But there are some fantastically good things to watch at the moment!)

    Good luck!
