SOUNDIE & DOP advice needed π
Hey beautiful people, I'm planning on doing a passion project that involves recording video and audio in a moving car. The project will just feature the driver (me) and the passanger (think James Corden's carpool karaoke style).
I'm planning on doing it all myself π as I don't have money to pay people π. I'm planning on using my little point and shoot camera (canon powershot g7 mark 2), a gopro hero 7 and a zoom H6 for sound.
Anyone done this kind of thing before? Anyone have any advice about things to think about?
Greatly appreciated xx

- I've done it before. I used a suction cup camera mount to put the camera on the windscreen (inside of car) pointing towards the talent. You need a fairly wide lens to get both in at once. I had a fullframe sony A7sii.Soundwise I had a Professional sound recordist on set but he essentially hid to lapel mics in the sunvisor and stuck the cables down the side of the windscreen. You might be better of having a lapel mic on each of the talent to minimise the car noise. The sound can be an issue, you don't want to drive too quickly or it becomes noisey quickly. In the actual show the engine is off and they are getting pulled by a truck. Also you'll get lots of camera shake so go slow!Try shooting it on an overcast day or if thats not possible near sunrise & sunset for better lighting.
