  • @Romy Carvalho Hey Romy, London-UK didnt work out bc I was applying for jobs that would not offer sponsorship, or it was a long shot anyway. It did work out for a couple of friends in the architecture and economics fields, but starting way below their rank. In the end I received a good offer back home... I saw you had posted about work vs. master degree... In my experience, I must say I loved working prior to doing an MSc. I worked from assistant producer to reporter and producer at a TV network in Peru and had lots of fun, stress, etc... for 7 years! Then I decided to do the MSc in social psychology. I connected v well with other Latinas who had previous work experience as well, the issue was that the majority of people in the course had no experience. So it was hard connecting with the rest of the cohort. I did want to start over, but like I said, didn't work out for me at the time. I think I focused way too much on my course and too like on networking earlier on, to be honest.
  • Hey Ana!

Except for Erasmus, I haven't moved like you, but most of my friends have and here what I can share about their experience: whatever the reason you're moving, don't focus exclusively on that.
My friends truly are social butterflies, yet they just can't seem to be creating a life of their own outside of work... which is seriously taking a toll on this "pursuit of happiness" that we should all try to keep a priority. They initially moved countries to seize a job opportunity, not with the intent to live a new experience in a new place with new people, just like right before starting Erasmus.

So, in a word, keep your own happiness and growth a key factor in the choice of your country/city & job field. See it more as "What kind of experience am I yearning for? Where could that take place?", etc.
It's not groundbreaking, but I believe it could help in making decisions that'll fulfill you more! Break a leg, Xx

(May I ask why it didn't work out in the UK? I, too, am trying to move for either studies or a job and since most of those are UK-based...)
