What do you guys think about my latest video portrait? I love hearing thoughts and opinions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXuoONxHJ-Y

This is a video portrait of the architectural painter, Katharine Le Hardy.

I had the pleasure of filming her paint a few pieces in her London based studio. She is immensely talented and I when I saw her pieces about the Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium, I knew that I had to get her on camera.

I shot this on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k with the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 Art series lens, the Meike 12mm T2.2 Cinema Lens and natural lighting.

  • Absolutely loved watching this Damien!
I think the slow camera, the soft music and the natural light perfectly mirror her and her work. The way she was saying she doesn't want those buildings to be forgotten, and what the most important things to her are - I think her message works well with the choices you made. It's stripped down and not distracting from her, great job!
  • @Giovanni Merla Thanks for your toughts! It's really interesing to see other perspectives on the video.
  • Hi, thanks for sharing! The video is beautifully shot I love the colors, the light, the sound and also the camera movements. It's definetely a very well packaged product. What I didn't like much is the music choice you made, it makes the storytelling too heavy and "sad", I think you could have played with the fact that the shots are slow and relaxing with a more bright and "colorful" tune. To be honest I think the soundtrack choice makes it harder to watch the video until the end. I'm saying this by having watched only this video and maybe there are other reasons for the choice you made. Anyway it's a nice and well made video!
  • @Marcus Ebanks It's refreshing to use natual lighting sometimes, it's also a nice challenge to get the creative shots you need.

I really like the BMPCC4K. Shooting in blackmagic raw gives you so much data to work with in post, it doesn't require you to use up all of your hard drives like shooting in Pro Res. If it's rigged up correctly then I'd reccomend this camera to anyone, you just have to make sure that you have a power option and monitor etc.

    Visually, its a joy.
